Hundreds turn out at medical camp

Hundreds of patients took part in the special medical camp to identify fresh cases of the endosulfan-affected on Thursday.

The authorities had issued notices to 1,433 people to attend the medical camp and 1,314 persons attended the examinations carried out by 44 physicians from 11 specialities drawn from various medical colleges in the State on the second day of the five-day camp.

As many as four ambulances were put in place to ferry the totally bed-ridden patients while other modes of vehicles were also pressed into service to help the differently-abled persons to reach the camp, Deputy Collector P.K. Sudir Babu, who also holds charge of the district-level endosulfan victims cell, told The Hindu .
